The Official Fresno Sister Cities Youth Ambassador Exchange Program will send Fresno County high school students to Fresno’s Sister City of Münster during the 2012 Summer vacation period.
This program provides students with a unique opportunity to broaden their perception of the world while offering them an enriching summer exchange experience.
Students will live with a pre-selected student of the same sex & age in a host family who speaks English for one month.
The Student Ambassadors will leave Fresno as a group the week of June 20, 2012.
Münster lies in the North-Rhine in the rich Westphalia region of Germany that borders on the Netherlands.
Amsterdam is two hours away to the NW and two hours to the S is Frankfurt.
Like Fresno, it's flat or gently rolling terrain is perfectly situated to explore the area's 100 medieval water castles by bike thru connected green beltways.
Münster is known as “The Bicycle Capital of Europe”. A Promenade rings the old city center of Münster and is now a large tree-lined bike path that traces along the site of this ancient city's wall.
The students will be taken on many tours; including Berlin to see historic sights and the remains of The Wall.
You'll find that most people speak English in Münster, because the schools in this area start teaching English in the first grade, becoming more intensive throughout high school.
Fresno County High School and College Students have a unique opportunity to visit 's Official Sister City of Münster, during the Summer Break in 2012.
French & German language students may choose to take a 4 or 6-week immersion course, while being hosted in a Münster student's home. Students go over in a group the week of June 21 and pay only $1,500 which includes RT airfare, language course and tours.
Non-language students may also apply for a home stay exchange. All exchange participants must host a student coming to Fresno in return, in late August of 2012. Münster students will go to high school with our students for 5 weeks.
